This powerful treatment is deeply pacifying to the mind and nervous system. Ayurvedic oils are specifically selected for their calming affect. Shirodhara releases stored emotions, relieves stress, anxiety and depression, improves sleep and restores mental clarity. It is important to note that this treatment will be done as part of a treatment program. The reason for this is to prepare the body and mind for the shirodhara treatment which gives the most beneficial results.
In week 4 and 5 of the program, I start this treatment with a relaxing face massage using the Rasasara Skinfood range. This will prepare you for the stream of warm oil that will flow onto your forehead. I end the treatment with a gentle yet energising head massage that will bring you back to earth.
I use Shirodhara, Ayurvedic Massage or Oncology Massage in conjunction with my counselling work and may suggest it to clients who are undertaking counselling with me.
Please bring an old scarf or towel to wrap around your head for your trip home. You will be left with very oily hair and it is important that you don’t get your head cold or blown by the wind. You can leave the oil in your hair overnight and shampoo out the next day. This will leave your hair feeling beautifully soft and nourished.
I encourage you to take the time to have a cup of herbal tea before leaving to totally absorb your experience.

To enjoy the full benefit of the total health package, it is advisable to follow the program below on a weekly basis, to prepare the energetic and physical body for Shirodhara, creating a peaceful mind and inner balance.
Week 1: Ayurvedic Consultation and dosha analysis with dietary recommendations (1 1/2 hr).
Week 2: Ayurvedic Marma Point Massage with warm medicated oil (1 hr).
Week 3: Ayurvedic Marma Point Massage with warm medicated oil (1 hr).
Week 4: Shirodhara (1 – 1 1/2 hrs).
Week 5: Shirodhara (1 – 1 1/2 hrs).
